What are Changelings?
Changelings are shapeshifters that physically and mentally take on the form of a defeated enemy. Unlike other shapeshifters that are stuck only physically taking on attributes of what they change into, changelings purposely take on their mentality as well. This allows them to pretend to be another race without being caught for what they actually are. Many consider them to be monstrous creatures hidden in plain sight, and they would be correct.
When you think Changeling:
This race is set as the most adaptive race within the Belegarth community. Able to change form at will, Changelings are established as being more fluid and individual than ever before. If ever there is anything a changeling should be known for, it is its adaptability to change.
How did the Race come to Be?
The first changeling to come forward was Kraesh. He established the race as thin lanky creatures with a very pale complexion. In recent years other changelings have come forward in order to grow the race to its full potential.
Monster or Fair Folk?
We are neither and both. Many changelings consider themselves a monster when in their natural form, but due to them being raised by another race as children there is debate about it. It is normally considered if a changeling was raised by a civilized race, then that changeling will consider themself a pinky, and if raised by a monster, then vice versa. There are a select few who choose to not identify with either and so if morphed into a pinky is a pinky, and morphed into a monster is a monster. It’s very fluid and up to a fighter’s discretion.
